NEMSAS Hosts BHCPF Gateways Forum, Reviews Implementation Across Health Sectors.
ABUJA – The National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) hosted the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) Gateways Forum in Abuja on September 11, 2026, bringing together representatives of key health-sector gateways to review implementation and discuss areas requiring closer collaboration.
The forum, held at Aso Hall, Rockview Classic, Wuse II, Abuja, was convened to provide updates on BHCPF implementation processes, outcomes and lessons learnt. It also focused on harmonizing implementation and addressing common challenges across the gateways.
Representatives of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Emergency Medical Transportation (EMT) Gateway were among participants at the meeting, alongside gateway programme leads and managers.
The meeting featured reports from the previous forum and discussions on matters arising before participants received implementation updates from the NHIA, NPHCDA, EMT and NCDC gateways. Each gateway was allocated time to present its update.
The participants subsequently considered areas of alignment and synergy, with the session providing an opportunity to examine issues requiring cooperation among the different gateways. The forum’s objectives included improving collaboration and finding common approaches to challenges affecting BHCPF implementation.
The forum closed with discussions on next steps and plans for the next quarterly meeting, before a closing prayer and group photograph.
