The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) and PharmAccess Foundation have strengthened collaboration on disease surveillance and health security through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The partnership is expected to deepen cooperation between the public and private sectors in supporting Nigeria’s Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) capabilities and strengthening the country’s broader disease surveillance infrastructure.
The collaboration brings together key stakeholders to support efforts aimed at improving the detection, monitoring and response to disease threats across Nigeria.
Through the partnership, the organisations will work towards strengthening surveillance systems and preparedness, with the broader objective of improving Nigeria’s capacity to respond to public health threats.
The agreement also highlights the role of public-private collaboration in building a stronger health security system, particularly as disease outbreaks can require coordinated action across government institutions, healthcare providers and other partners.
The NCDC said the partnership would contribute to strengthening surveillance, preparedness and health security in Nigeria.
The collaboration comes as disease surveillance remains an important component of public health protection, enabling health authorities and other stakeholders to identify potential threats and support timely responses.
The NCDC, HFN and PharmAccess Foundation reaffirmed their commitment to working together to support Nigeria’s disease surveillance capacity and contribute to a more resilient health security system.
